Terms of use

Plain-language summary. Last updated: 2026.

This is a plain-language draft written to explain our intent. It will be reviewed by a qualified professional before launch and may change.

What Recfinly is

Recfinly is a tool for splitting bills, tracking balances, and budgeting. It records who owes what and sends reminders to settle up. It is a record-keeping and reminder tool — not a bank, wallet, escrow, or payment provider.

Money movement is between you and your friends

Recfinly never holds, transfers, guarantees, or verifies payments. Any actual payment happens directly between you and the people you owe or who owe you, using whatever method you choose. “Mark as paid” is a record you keep — not a transaction we process.

Using it fairly

Use Recfinly for your own genuine splits and budgeting. Don’t use it to break the law, harass others, or abuse the service. Keep your login details to yourself.

Accuracy

We work hard to get the math right — splits sum to the total and balances net to zero — but you’re responsible for checking the amounts and for the real-world payments you make.

The service is provided as-is

Recfinly is offered free and “as is,” without warranties. We’ll do our best to keep it running and to protect your data, but we can’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Changes

As the app grows, these terms may change. We’ll post the current version here and, for meaningful changes, let account holders know.
